Confidential Counselling and Psychotherapy Service
Hi, I am Paul. Welcome to my professional and confidential service. I am both a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a BACP registered therapist (reg. 080878). I offer therapy for individuals and couples at short notice.
COVID19 Response – Online therapy
In response to the current public health problem I am now offering therapy online using ZOOM and Hushmail. Niether of these optioins require special set up and full guidance on use will be given. The current environment has made it vitally important to provide alternatives without discrimination. Contact me initially using my online contact form on this website or by phone.
Currently, I am not offering any face to face therapy sessions in rooms at therapy centres during the current public health problem. Face to Face online only.

Practices in Sudbury & Colchester & Frinton
Currently, I have a practice room in Sudbury, Station Road. Additionally, I have practice rooms at a dedicated therapy centre in Colchester. Due to enquiries coming from the Clacton area I have decided to offer appointments in Frinton, this is a trial venture using an existing phsyio Clinic. I generally work between the three towns most days. My Sudbury practice offers short notice appointments and weekends. This offers you the real chance of being seen quickly. People often get referred to queues, this is not ideal, I aim to see you quickly. You can expect a fast flexible supportive service for the problems you may be struggling with now.
Counselling & Emotion Focused Therapy
Almost all of my work is evidence-based practice, using Emotion Focused Therapy ( EFT – Psychotherapy – is not to be confused with ‘tapping’). Evidence-based practice means that the methods I use have been validated by research control trials (RCT). EFT has a strong evidence base combining research knowledge. You are entitled to know that you are buying into a therapy that you can trust.
Originally, EFT was developed for treating depression. EFT continued to branch out and treat many other types of problem, such as trauma, anxiety, relationship problems, and borderline processes. The therapy uses ‘marker guided’ interventions and is underpinned by Humanistic person-centred counselling approaches. EFT for individuals and EFT for couples are both related but each method is distinctive from the other.
